Kampung Bena, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia
Kampung Bena is a megalithic village located in Ngada Regency, Flores NTT, to be precise in Tiwuriwu Village, Aimere District. Access to Bena Village can be reached by using a rental vehicle from Bajawa with a distance of about 19 km to the south of Bajawa. From Labuan Bajo, Bajawa can be reached in about 7-8 hours by road. The location of Bena Village, which is located on a hilltop with Mount Inerie in the background, really makes the atmosphere of Bena Village even more beautiful and exotic. Its existence under the mountain is a characteristic of the old community who believed and worshiped the mountain as the place for the gods, and the Bena people believe that the presence of the God Yeta who sits on Mount Inerie will protect their village.
Currently Bena Village consists of approximately 45 houses that surround each other with 9 tribes that inhabit these houses, namely the Dizi tribe, Dizi Azi tribe, Wahto tribe, Deru Lalulewa tribe, Deru Solamae tribe, Ngada tribe, Khopa tribe, and the ago tribe. The difference between one tribe and another is that there are 9 levels and each tribe is in one level of height. The arrangement of the houses in Bena looks very unique because of their circular shape forming the letter U, and each house also has a roof decoration that is different from one another based on the lineage of those who rule and live in that house.
